Ann Prescott Woodturning Artistic Functional Turnings and Instruction Every piece of wood tells a story. Their markings reveal the mysteries and conditions of the life of a tree. Imperfect. Transient. Evolutionary.
In making functional objects that reveal the distinctive character of wood, I strive for finishing and embellishment that honors the wood's essential beauty while also celebrating color, texture, and patterns found in Nature. There is endless challenge and satisfaction coming from this union.
I prefer to work with already fallen trees. Trees destined to be discarded or burned have a chance for new life. Teaching and sharing what I have learned balances the solitary process of turning wood. I am a partner at Markings Gallery in Bath, Maine. And, until it recently closed, taught classes at The Woodturning School. Now I teach privately. I love what I do.
